Student North Carolina Association of Educators

Aspiring Educators become activists at all levels of the organization—local, state, and national—so that all their students can maximize their potential.

The Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE) is a pre-professional organization for college students interested in a career in education.  SNCAE is a division of the larger North Carolina Association of Educators, the leading professional organization for educators in North Carolina, and the National Education Association, the largest education association in the United States.

SNCAE’s goal is to prepare college students for their futures as educators.  Our three core values are teacher quality, community engagement, and political advocacy. Local chapters provide support to members on campus and host special events and trainings. If you are a future educator in the state of North Carolina, join your professional organization, SNCAE, and make a difference today!

THE EARLY CAREER EDUCATORS OF NCAE

Building personal and professional relationships through community outreach, networking, and political action to support our interests for North Carolina students.

SNCAE's Aspiring Educators Program supports, develops, and empowers diverse, pre-service teachers with the resources, networks, and opportunities to lead in their schools, communities, and in all phases of their career. This is accomplished through an embodiment of its four core values in all program activities:

  •     Educator Quality
  •     Community Engagement
  •     Political Action
  •     Social Justice

SNCAE members matter because they are the leading voice of the next generation of educators and leaders in this nation. Aspiring Educators make a difference because of their passion, commitment, and vision as association members who believe in public education and its potential to uplift individuals, families, and communities.

SNCAE members advocate for and support:

  •     Improving the quality of educator preparation programs
  •     Providing affordable college options
  •     Recruiting and supporting diverse educators
  •     Enhancing safe and supportive learning environments for all students

HOW DOES NEA HELP ASPIRING EDUCATORS?

Members of SNCAE belong to a network of nearly 50,000 students who believe in improved teacher education and support for prospective teachers. As the nation’s largest pre-professional association for future educators, NEA connects practicing teachers and fellow NEA Aspiring Educators through state and national leadership conferences, workshops, and public forums.

Members can also enrich their teaching and advocacy skills by holding local, state, or national office, or serving as a delegate to NEA’s annual Representative Assembly.

Check out all the perks of SNCAE membership, including discounts on insurance, cheaper movie tickets, and coupons for stores such as Target, Ann Taylor, and Best Buy through NEA Member Benefits

NEA Aspiring Educators CREATE Grants

State Aspiring Educators (AE) organizations and campus chapters are eligible to apply for CREATE grants.  These grants of up to $2000 should strengthen the AE Program and build stronger partnerships.

The transition from Aspiring Educator to Active Professional Educator pays dividends!

As AE members transition to Active Professionals employed in public schools, the opportunities to continue pursuing professional excellence, leadership development, and fighting for our values also continue. And NEA’s support for early career educators who were AE members even includes a special financial benefit!

NEA Rebate Program:
Former Aspiring Educators (AE) who join NEA during their first year of eligibility for Active Professional Membership are entitled to a special rebate. The rebate is $20 for each year of membership as an Aspiring Educator (Student Member) for up to 4 years.  Someone who joined the AE program for one year can apply for a $20-dollar rebate. And an AE member for 4 years is entitled to apply for an $80-rebate!

The rebate application must be submitted no later than June 1st (deadline extended).
